Featured Speaker: Ms Donna Snipes
"Elmira Prison Camp during the War Between the States"
Ms Donna Snipes will be the featured speaker at the Granville County Genealogical Society (GCGS) meeting, February 4, 2016 at 6:30 P.M. in the Conference Room at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford. Her topic will be: "Elmira Prison Camp during the War Between the States." If you want to hear a very interesting program then plan on attending this meeting. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm in the large conference room at the Thornton Library in Oxford, NC. You will also find out how some history was recorded and who was responsible.
Donna Wilkins Snipes was born and raised in Granville County. She attended and graduated from Atlantic Christian College (now known as Barton College) with a BS in Education of the Deaf. Donna received her Masters in K-6 from UNC-Pembroke while working in Robeson and Scotland County Schools as the itinerant teacher of the Deaf. Currently she is working in the Early Learning Sensory Support for children with Hearing Impairments under the Department of Public Instruction. She works with families to help the family develop speech, language and audition in their birth to 3 year old. Donna is married to David Lynn Snipes from Lumberton, NC.
