November 2nd Program Details
Featured Speaker: Ms. Peggy Woodlief Johnson
"History of Hester Baptist Church"

The program for the November 2, 2023 meeting of the Granville County Genealogical Society will be presented by Mrs. Peggy Woodlief Johnson, who will give a presentation on "History of Hester Baptist Church."

Hester Baptist Church of Granville County was founded in September 1823. The Church celebrated Its 200th Anniversary this year. Hester Baptist Church is located on Hwy 96 north of Oxford and Kinton Fork. Mrs. Johnson will tell us about the founding families of the church and the many dedicated families who have served and continue to serve the church.

Peggy was born and raised in Granville County, graduating from Oxford High School. She is married to Troy Johnson who also is a Granville County native. Both have many family members in Granville County today.

Please join members of the Granville County Genealogical Society in attending this meeting, to be held at 6:30 P.M. on November 2, 2023 in the conference room at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford, N.C. All GCGS meetings are open to the public, and visitors and guests are always cordially invited to attend.
