2007 Meeting Programs January 4th Program DetailsFeatured Speaker: Charles Wilson The Granville County Genealogical Society, 1746 will begin the new year with its meeting on January 4, 2007during which Charles Wilson will discuss “Who Were the Indians of Granville County”. Charles was born and raised in Granville County then left home to study at Appalachian and UNC Chapel Hill. After this he studied in France. A two year stint with the Peace Corps in Africa was his next endeavor. Following this he moved to Saudi Arabia where he was employed to help train the Saudi National Guard, an organization that was used primarily to protect the royal family. After 20 years, 9-11 occurred and he said he felt like it was time to come home. He then moved to Clarksville where he continues to live. The Indians of North Carolina and Virginia have been of life long interest to Charles and he has done considerable research on them. Since he has moved back to the area he has continued this research in earnest. All members and guests are urged to plan to attend what promises to be a most interesting meeting to be held in the Conference Room at the Thornton Library in Oxford at 6:30 P.M., January 4, 2007.
