2007 Meeting Programs June 7th Program DetailsFeatured Speaker: Tresia Dodson On June 7, 2007, the Granville County Genealogical Society, 1746 will meet at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford. The speaker for the evening will be Tresia Dodson, Director of the Granville County Library System. Tresia was born in Russell, Kansas. In addition to living in Kansas, she traveled with her husband, who was in the Navy, to several foreign countries and several states. In 1990 she earned a BA in Elementary Education from Southwestern College, Winfield, Kansas. Following this, for the next four years, she served as the Children’s Services Librarian at the Winfield Public Library and for the next two years she was a School Library Specialist in Winfield, Kansas. In 1996 she was awarded a Masters Degree in Library Science from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. At this point she was made Library Director of the Winfield Public Library in Winfield, Kansas. To be closer to her daughter who had moved to western North Carolina, Tresia relocated to Morganton, N.C. in 2005, where she served as the Library Director for the Burke County Library System. In mid 2006, Granville County was fortunate enough to persuade her to come here to be the Director of the Granville County Library System. Since coming to Oxford, she has been a member of several professional and civic organizations and she has just recently completed a Leadership Granville course. During the meeting, to be held at the library at 6:30 P.M. in the conference room, Tresia will discuss the “Power of Family Stories” which should be of interest to members and guests alike.
