2008 Meeting Programs September 4th Program DetailsFeatured Speaker: Dr. Richard L. Taylor The speaker for the September 4, 2008 meeting of the Granville County Genealogical Society 1748, Inc. will be the Society’s vice president, Dick Taylor who will speak on "Adding Substance to Your Genealogical Data Using Newspapers". Previous speakers to the society have focused primarily on the historical aspects of newspaper research. Taylor is planning a little different approach, concentrating on news items that appeared in the newspapers from time to time which would “add meat to the bones” of people in your research. He will have some examples of what he has done along these lines. Dr. Taylor is a native of Oxford and returned home to practice medicine after finishing his education and a stint in the U. S. Navy. He is married to the former Julia Ann Hamme, also a Granville County native and they have one son. As usual, the meeting is open to visitors. Members and visitors are encouraged to attend this meeting, which is to be held in the Conference Room of the Richard H. Thornton Library on Main Street in Oxford at 6:30 P.M. on September 4, 2008.
