2009 Meeting Programs April 2nd Program DetailsFeatured Speaker: Royster Washington Program Title: "History of the Oxford Baptist Church" Several years ago Royster Washington put together a history of the Oxford Baptist Church. During the April 2nd, 2009 meeting of the Granville County Genealogical Society 1746, Inc , Royster will share this history with those assembled. Royster Washington was born and raised in Oxford and is a graduate of Oxford High School and Wake Forest College. In 1977 he began working for the N.C. Department of Correction as an Adult probation and parole officer. He was promoted to chief probation officer in 1994 and in 1997 he was named probation and parole manager for Judical District 9, which includes Franklin, Vance, Warren and Granville Counties. Royster and his wife Isabele have two grown children and live here in Oxford, where he has served on the Granville Medical Center Board of Trustees, a deacon in the Oxford Baptist Church and has been active in many civic groups such as the Granville County Historical Society. Meetings of the Granville County Genealogical Society are open meetings and visitors are always welcome. Plan to join with members and guests for this informative program at the April 2, 2009 meeting to be held in the conference Room at the Richard H. Thornton Library at 6:30 P.M.
