2009 Meeting Programs November 5th Program DetailsFeatured Speaker: Bob Williams Program Title: "Genealogical Research in England" On Thursday November 5, 2009, Bob Williams will speak to the Granville County Genealogical Society 1746, Inc. about Genealogical Research in England and Wales. Mr. Williams was born and raised in Billerica, Mass. He got a BS degree in Biology and Chemistry from Norwich University in Vermont and a MBA from Rivier College in New Hampshire. After five years in the Army, and a variety of assignments in New Hampshire, Connecticut and New Jersey, he went to work for Eastman Kodak’s subsidiary, Qualex, in 1995. He lived in Chapel Hill until his children finished their education. Most of his work involved international travel, culminating in a three-year assignment in Europe for Kodak. Another two years was spent in Texas in a turn-around situation after which he decided to retire. Bob and his wife, Beth, from Florence, SC, decided to “move out of the high rent district”, and began looking at many places in NC, finally deciding to move to Oxford, where, he says, they have been very happy. During the course of his last assignment with Kodak he was based in London, spending weekends on his hobbies of photography and genealogy. During his presentation to the society, he will share some of his experiences gained while doing genealogical research while in England. Monthly meetings are open to the public and visitors are cordially invited to this meeting, which will be interesting and informative. The November meeting will be held at 6:30 PM November 5, 2009 in the County Commissioner’s Meeting Room at 145 Williamsboro Street, Oxford, NC.
