2009 Meeting Programs December 3rd Program DetailsFeatured Speaker: Mark Pace Program Title: "Granville “Colonies” in Other States" The final meeting of 2009 for the Granville County Genealogical Society will be held in the County Commissioner’s Meeting Room on Williamsboro Street in Oxford at 6:30 PM on December 3, 2009. Mark Pace, NC Room Specialist at the Richard H. Thornton Library, will be the speaker for the evening. Mark was born and raised in Vance County and graduated from Vance Senior High in 1979. He next went to UNC - Chapel Hill, finishing in 1984. He next went to work for an advertising agency in Raleigh as a Graphic Artist. After a few years, he resigned from the agency and started his own freelance advertising and painting company. In early 2009, he was hired as the NC Room Specialist at Thornton Library. This job has given him the opportunity to actively pursue a 30 year passion for genealogy and local history. During his research he noted areas in several states, including Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi among others, that were populated with familiar Granville County names. In his presentation, he will discuss some of his findings which should be very informative. The meetings of the Granville County Genealogical Society are open to the public. Guests are always welcome to join with members at the December 3, 2009 meeting to be held in the County Commissioner’s Meeting Room at 145 Williamsboro Street in Oxford at 6:30 PM.
