2012 Meeting Programs November 1st Program Details Mark Pace, North Carolina Room Specialist at Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford, will speak to the society about some of the lessor known facts regarding southern Granville County. Mark was born and raised in Vance County and after graduating from high school there , he went to UNC, Chapel Hill, N.C. finishing in 1984. Following this he went to work in Raleigh as a graphic artist at an advertising agency. After several years, he started his own freelance advertising and painting company. In early 2009, he was hired as the NC Room Specialist at R.H. Thornton Library, giving him the unique opportunity to actively pursue a 30 year passion for genealogy and local history. During his presentation to the society, Mark will focus on the history of southern Granville County illuminating some facts that may not be widely known and some that are well known but are uniquely interesting. The meetings of the society are open and guests are cordially invited to join with the society members to hear this presentation, to be given at 6:30 P.M. on November 1, 2012 in the large conference room at R. H. Thornton Library in Oxford. All GCGS meetings are open to the public and guests are cordially invited to attend.
