2015 Meeting Programs
October 15th Program Details
Featured Speaker: Ms Ginger Smith
"DNA Testing and Genealogical Research"
The October meeting will be held on October 15 at the usual time and place. This is a move from our usual meeting date of the first Thursday in each month. Ginger Smith, Senior Scientist at NC Central University, will be the guest speaker at the October 15, 2015 meeting of the Granville County Genealogical Society. The meeting will be October 15th at 6:30 PM in the Conference room at The Thornton Library in Oxford.
Smith will present a program on the relationship between DNA testing and genealogical research. Ms. Smith's presentation will cover the types of DNA tests that are commercially available, how to choose a test based on what your goals and expectations are, and how the various tests can satisfy your genealogical needs.
She will then present a case study illustrating how DNA testing can be used to break down your brick walls and answer your research questions. Handouts will be provided.
Please join the members of the Granville County Genealogical Society at 6:30 P.M. on October 15, 2015
in the conference room at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford. Visitors are always welcome and are encouraged to join in this presentation.
All GCGS meetings are open to the public and guests are cordially invited to attend.
