Featured Speaker: Mr Stewart Dunaway
"The Least Known Records of the North Carolina Archives"
The meeting will be March 3, 2016 at 6:30 P.M. in the Conference Room at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford. Mr. Stewart Dunaway will be the guest speaker. His talk is entitled "The Least Known Records of the North Carolina Archives". He will detail his eight year effort in transcribing and cataloging the entire State's collection of road, bridge, mill, ferry, and ordinary records. Within these legal documents are many historical facts, genealogical information, and some period maps or drawings. Together, these records represent a great source for researchers, historians and genealogist.
Stewart Dunaway retired as Vice President of Siemens Telecom near Orlando, Florida. For the last 15 years, he, his wife Maryellen and daughter Sarah, have called Hillsborough, NC home. Sarah Dunaway graduated from High Point University and is employed in Charlotte, NC. A 5th generation Floridian, Stewart enjoys researching early North Carolina history. Stewart is also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and has written a number of books on the Revolutionary War.
