2016 Meeting Programs
May 5th Program Details
Featured Speaker: Mr Jonathan Bradsher
"Celebrating 80 Years of the Granville County Library System"
The meeting will be May 5, 2016 at 6:30 P.M. in the Conference Room at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford. Jonathan Bradsher will be the guest speaker. His talk is entitled "Celebrating 80 Years of the Granville County Library System". In 1936 county voters approved a bill for a local library tax, thus Granville earned the distinction of being the first county in the Southeastern United States to levy a county tax for a county-wide library service. Mr. Bradsher will also discuss the origins of the library from the Oxford Women's Club and detail some of the events this year that will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Library. Please join us as we acknowledge the history of this venerated Granville County Institution.
Jonathan Bradsher is a Person County native. He became Director of the Granville County Library System in 2015.
Please join the members of the Granville County Genealogical Society at 6:30 P.M. on May 5, 2016 in the conference room at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford. Visitors are always welcome and are encouraged to join in this presentation.
All GCGS meetings are open to the public and guests are cordially invited to attend.
