"History of the Sheriff's Department"
Granville County Sheriff Brindell B. Wilkins, Jr. will present the program for the September 1, 2016 meeting of the Society. He will discuss a history of the sheriff's department, and what we need to be aware of when we are looking for our ancestors, their homeplaces, or a cemetery in Granville County. We look forward to this interesting and informative presentation.
Sheriff Wilkins, who is a Granville County native, has lived and worked here all of his life. He is married with three children and several grandchildren. He has been working with the Granville County Sheriff's department for about 27 years. He served as the County Coroner when there was still one and later became a Deputy Sheriff. He was appointed Sheriff in 2009 when Sheriff David Smith retired. Brindell Wilkins won election to Sheriff in 2010.
Please join members of the Society in attending this meeting, to be held at 6:30 P.M. on September 1, 2016 in the conference room at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford, N.C. All GCGS meetings are open to the public, and visitors and guests are always cordially invited to attend.
