2016 Meeting Programs
October 6th Program Details
Featured Speaker: Mr Phil Jones
"Jeremiah and William Frazer – The Frazers of Granville County"
Mr Phil Jones will present the program for the October 6, 2016 meeting of the Society. The talk will discuss the early history of Jeremiah and William Frazer in Granville County (and explain why Frazier probably appears to folks in Granville County to be spelled wrongly). Some early misconceptions about where they came from and who their ancestors were will be discussed, as well as some of the results of the speaker's research into Jeremiah, his home and his family.
Phil Jones, whose wife Rebecca is a descendant of Jeremiah's son Ephraim, has been researching Jeremiah's family for almost 20 years. He was born in England and spent 20 years working for IBM in the UK, followed by another 20 years in the US and from 1986 to 1989 lived in Cary, NC (unfortunately before getting into family history research). He retired from IBM in 2009, after which research proceeded much more quickly. He and his family live in Colorado.
Please join members of the Society in attending this meeting, to be held at 6:30 P.M. on October 6, 2016 in the conference room at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford, N.C. All GCGS meetings are open to the public, and visitors and guests are always cordially invited to attend.
