2018 Meeting Programs March 1st Program Details The program for the March 1, 2018 meeting of the Granville County Genealogical Society will be presented by Ms. Jessie McLam. She will present a program on "Experiences of our Ancestors" as told in their diaries and journals. Upon graduation from Campbell College, McLam was employed by the Granville County Department of Social Services, retiring in 1997. A native of Whiteville in Columbus County, North Carolina, she can trace her ancestry in this country back to the early 1600s. She has a strong interest in history, and is a museum docent with the Granville County Historical Society. She is American Indian Committee chairman of the John Penn Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; President of the Granville Grays Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy; member of the Board of Trustees for the North Carolina Division UDC House: North Carolina Division UDC Chairman of the Graves & Grave Markers Committee; and a member of the Murfreesboro Historical Association. Her interests include genealogy research, reading, cemeterying, fishing, camping, travel and the NC State Wolfpack. Please join members of the Granville County Genealogical Society in attending this meeting, to be held at 6:30 P.M. on March 1, 2018 in the conference room at the Richard H. Thornton Library in Oxford, N.C. All GCGS meetings are open to the public, and visitors and guests are always cordially invited to attend.
